Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 7

This was the longest day of the trip - from Greenville, SC to our house was 11 hours...all the way across the long state of Tennessee...we were ready to be home, so that made it seem even longer...

We went thru a tunnel in North Carolina.

About half way thru TN, we stopped at a rest area and had a PB&J lunch, then they crashed...

Yes, she is sideways in here seat - and she slept that way for a good while.

He slept pretty good for a while as well.

When we finally got home (about 7:00 pm) sitting and waiting on our front porch was a sweet baby puppy.  We are not sure where she came from or how she got there, but she was very thirsty and also pretty hungry.  Rog went and got some puppy food - she is about 6 weeks - and I guess we are keeping her.  We asked some of the nieghbors, and no one has ever seen her before.  I will post some pictures of her as soon as I get the one from vacation off of my camera.

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 6

Our last morning at the beach - we got up early to go watch the sun rise again...

Then we packed up and hit the road - headed to Greenville, SC to meet some of my internet friends at the Greenville Zoo.

This is Patricia, Lorna and I. We are all in a MSN group together - have been for a while, and we finally got to meet one another.  And here are all of our kiddos....(Patricia posted a different one of them on her blog - I linked to her blog thru her name).

On the bear - Ry, Sis, Sawyer and Isaiah (not sure which is which - correct me Lorna or Patricia and I will fix it). Standing in front is Vicki and Ansley. They hit it off and really got along great.  After the zoo, they played at the park for a while, then Lorna and her hubby showed us how to get to WalMart, then we grabbed a bite to eat at Fridays. Since they had us totally lost, they then had to show us back to our hotel!!

Here's another one of the boys at the zoo - not sure who is who up there....

And the girls ...Vicki was done with the picture taking at this point!!

And one more - Lorna and I after dinner.

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 5

We pulled the curtains closed in hopes of everyone sleeping in this morning, but it didn't work all that great...they were both up by 7:00 am, so we got on with our day - which consisted of some boogie boarding - this is Ry -

and some digging in the sand...

and running from the monster waves that were coming in...

After all the sand and sun, we went to the room for some lunch and a shower - the combination of sunscreen and sand makes me ill....ugh....then we visited the South Carolina Children's Museum.

it was small and kinda cheesy, but the kiddos liked it, so I guess that is what counts....

After there, we went to East of Chicago Pizza - it was pretty good - kinda like a Chuck E Cheese - but much better pizza - it was buffet.  The games were no good though - when you are used to 1 token per game and the games there were costing 8 and 10 tokens....eeek...it goes fast like that...

The kiddos got to make their own pizza.

Another full day and we were all tired...

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 4

We woke the kiddos up early to go down to the beach and watch the sun come up.

It had clouds in front of it at the horizion line, but it was still pretty - that is Rog, Ry and Sis out along the water...

After the sun came up, we went to Broadway at the Beach for the day. Our first stop there was Ripley's Aquarium (it was neat, but we had just visited the one in Gatlinburg, and it was quite a bit bigger) ~ then from there - on thru the shops and such at Broadway.

One of the things we found there that was pretty neat - RideMakerz - it was along the same lines as BuildABear, but it was custom hot rods...both kiddos made one- Sis a pink something and Ry a firetruck - he chose his to be jacked-up, hers was street. They had fun making thier cars.

Broadway was very neat, and we did a bit of shopping...but the kiddos and I were beat after that...not to beat to go to the NASCAR Speed Park though!!

Now we are truly tired - back to the room for the night.  We even close all the curtians so that the sun cannot wake us in the morning.

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 3

Sunrise was at 6:11am - this was taken about 5:45 am -

Then as it started to rise, I took a few more -

I actually got up by myself and went out on the balcony to watch ~Rog ended up joining me out there and we watched the sun rise together.  All of the curtains in the room were up, so the kiddos would be able to see it come up if they woke up.  They were sleeping good, so I went back to bed - this was taken from my bed -

We spent some more time out on the water today -  We buried Ry -

Played out in the ocean -

And spent some time in the pool -

Then it was time for bed - this was the place we stayed - with the cresent moon shining beside it-

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 2

We left Georgia pretty early - we were on the road by 8:00 am. We stopped at the South Carolina welcome center -

They ran around and got some energy out, then back in the car - time for a rest....

Not much longer then -here we are....

Here was one of the views from our balcony -

We had to get wet - me and the kiddos walking in the water -

Ry was a bit scared at first, but he ended up having tons of fun...

Sis wasn't scared at all the first day...

Here is one of Rog and I -that I took -

We were all tired - so after our little splash thru the edge of the water, we were ready to crash for the night.

Myrtle Beach Trip - May 2007 - Day 1

We got started bright and early this morning...we were able to leave out at 7:00 am.  We left Arkansas and drove straight thru to Georgia to stay the night with some of our friends. It was a nine hour drive from our driveway to theirs - with a stop or two of course.  We hung out with Amy, Julian and their kiddos for the evening, then after breakfast Sunday Morning we were off - here are all of the kiddos right before we left them. (Sorry it is so small - I snagged it from Amy's page.)

It was great to visit with them - Amy and I have been friends since early elementary school - there have been times where we didn't talk much - they were missionaries in China when my kiddos were born and when her kiddos were born (even though Liam - her little boy - was born in Arkansas).  We have always remained close - no matter where life has taken us.

On the way - there were a few funnies - one, we are in AR, and there are crop dusters that fly out in the fields all the time.  Well, Rog saw one and tried to point it out to the kiddos and both of them asked 'what is a plop buster?' after we finished laughing about that - we showed them one and Sis' response to that was - oh, that is just an airplane....

Then, we missed the turn right inside TN, because I was trying to take a picture ofthe welcome to TN sign (I missed it also) so we drove into part of the hood of Memphis to turn around and get back on track.  It ended up not really being my fault, since the signs were not clear.

Our plan was to stop somewhere about lunch time at a rest area and have a picnic, well - guess - what - there are no rest areas in Mississippi!  The only pace we found in MS was the welcome center that was on the other side of the road as we crossed into Alabama - we turned around and went back to Mississippi to eat, then turned again and headed back in the right direction.  After we went all the way across Alabama without seeing a rest area, we were glad we had turned around!!
